The Legion of Mary
Origin: The Legion of Mary is an international association of practicing members of the Catholic Church who serve the Church on a voluntary basis. It was founded in Dublin, Ireland, as a Roman Catholic Marian Movement by layman Frank Duff. On February 21, 1950, in a small room in the parish of Hua Sha, the first community of the Legion of Mary was begun in Taiwan.
Object: To enable the members to pay attention to the spiritual life, to follow the example of the sacred work of the Virgin Mary and to pass on Jesus to the people, to sanctify themselves and sanctity others, the two complement each other. There are two legionaries of Legion of Mary in our church and members of each unit meet every Sunday where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion.
Meeting Time: at 10:00am every Sunday
Qualification: Lay Catholic, regardless of gender, education, working experience. Willing to obey the rules of the legion of Mary; follow the example of the sacred work of the Virgin Mary; participating evangelism and apostle work.
The basic task of becoming a member of the Legion of Mary 1) Absolutely observe the provisions of the manual 2) Attend the weekly meeting to complete two hours of work 3) Pray “My Soul Proclaims the Lord” every day
How to become an auxiliary member: All priests, friars, nun, catholics can be attend
Feature: Wherever there is a need, there is the Legion of Mary Legion of Mary is the right hand of the priests, the basic force for the church works. Don’t need member’s wealth or power, but need their unwavering faith. Don’t ask members to have brilliant career, but need their persistent effort. Don’t ask members to be an outstanding genius but require them an everlasting love.
The tasks: Under the leadership of the church, the members respected the dispatch of the priest and the leader and took a proactive attitude to complete the work together with the brothers and sisters under the illumination of the Virgin Mary and the light of the Holy Spirit.
