Hsinchu Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Fr. Antony Chomba Kinyua

My name is Fr. Antony Chomba Kinyua 昌安道神父, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to come to this parish to meet you and serve among you.

My fathers name is Samuel Kinyua and my mothers name is Julia Wangithi. I am Kenyan by nationality and was born on 28 March 1987. I come from a family of three sons and four daughters, and I am the youngest. All my siblings are active Christians; they are married and have children.

In terms of my faith, my parents are both staunch Catholics, which gave me a strong Catholic foundation. My home was my first catechism class, with my mother being especially firm on matters of faith, education, and moral, which greatly shaped my life. I received the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation in 1997 after nearly three years of rigorous catechism. Since then, I have remained an active member of the Church.

Regarding my educational background, I completed my basic & primary education from 1994 to 2005, and secondary education from 2005 to 2008. I then pursued a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy at the Consolata Institute of Philosophy, Kenya(2011~2014), where I also obtained a Diploma in Religious Studies. From 2015 to 2019, I studied for and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Theology at Tangaza University, Kenya. During the period from 2016 to 2018, I also earned a Diploma in African Studies, Culture, and Religion at the Maryknoll Institute of Language and Culture, Tangaza University.

Regarding my vocation Journey, I applied to join the Consolata Missionaries in 2010. I went through the different stages of formation, including Propaedeutic Stage, Philosophy Formation, Novitiate, and Theology Formation. On 11 July 2019, I made my First Religious Vows, and on 14 February 2020, my Final Religious Vows. I was ordained a deacon on 15 February 2020 and ordained a priest on 29 August 2020.

In terms of missionary and pastoral experience, I served in Kenya and Uganda from 2019 to 2020, and in Italy from 2021 to 2022. Since 1 June, 2022, I have been on mission in Taiwan.

It is truly a grace from God for me to be here in Taiwan, to live, pray, and serve together with you. I look forward to walking with you in faith and growing together in our Christian life.

May God bless you all. Thank you!
